The refurbishment and development of an office building in Brighton city centre.  The development involved extending the existing building over a car park to the rear to create four floors of commercial office space and two restaurants in tenanted by ‘Jamie Oliver’. 

The main emphasis behind the design was to create a utilitarian and modern looking interior with high performance services.  All comfort cooling, ventilation plant and electrical services were installed exposed to view, at high level within the open plan spaces, which minimised the detrimental effect of having very low existing ceiling heights.  This meant that close coordination of all services was even more imperative in order to achieve an aesthetically pleasing and highly functional building.

All services were designed with efficiency in mind and heat recovery ventilation coupled with a very low building air permeability and high levels of thermal insulation were employed.
