Hammersmith Hospital

The Cancer Imaging Centre at Hammersmith Hospital was established to produce a globally leading centre focused on cancer imaging, and other specialist multi-disciplinary sciences. The radioactive materials in the “hot laboratory” are tested in the body to view the human tissue more clearly. This research is executed in conjunction with the hospital in order to advance cancer treatments.

Crofton was commissioned to design M&E services for eight fume cupboards and a hot lab. The space restrictions meant fitting the wires safely and managing the large equipment needed for the experiments was difficult to coordinate. There was also no access of the ducts on the outside of the building, therefore the specialist contractors were required to abseil down the side of building in order to fit the required services.
