Excellence in Engineering

Training Opportunities

Engineering offers a wealth of opportunity for young people after completing their A-Levels. Crofton regularly employs recent school leavers with good results in mathematics and science, providing sponsorship opportunities for those keen to work towards a degree in engineering.

Day-release courses ensure the student gets practical work experience alongside academic learning.

Profile: Daryl Curtis

‘I knew that I didn’t want to stay in full-time education, but it was difficult to decide where I wanted to work. Working for Crofton has given me considerable practical knowledge and has been invaluable on my course. I have a much better understanding because I am able to relate theory to work I have actually done at Crofton.’

Daryl has achieved a First Class degree with honours in Building Services Engineering at South Bank University, London and has completed a Masters degree in Sustainable Energy Systems at the same university.

Apprenticeships

Crofton is working with the Apprenticeship Technician Consortium and South Thames College to offer 3-year apprenticeships for entry-level positions in Building Services Engineering. During this time, apprentices gain valuable work experience under a programme of supervised training which provides technical support to our engineers with their design work. Apprentices are given day release to study at South Thames College.

On completion of the programme, applicants will receive Technician membership with the Chartered Institute of Chartered Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the professional qualification EngTech and a pathway to further their professional development at university to Chartered Engineer status if they are capable and wish to take this route.

Four school leavers began their apprenticeships in August 2013 across the London and Kent offices.

International Internships

Crofton offers international students the opportunity to gain work experience within a UK engineering consultancy. We also work with colleagues in the industry to provide placements to their students to give them a well-rounded experience in the design & build sector.

Profile: Yoan Ferlay

‘My work was very involved in the engineering part of design using 3D software tools, in particular Revit MEP 3D. I was pleased to have the opportunity to work with this new technology which will assist me in other roles in the future.’

Crofton Design offers excellent training opportunities and the senior engineers are positive mentors. In my experience, Crofton is a company who consciously regards the future and new industry developments.

It has been a pleasure to complete my internship at Crofton.’

Yoan completed his Electrical Engineering Diploma in France at the end of August 2011.
