Work Experience

Crofton believes it is important to invest time and training in young people from the very beginning of their career; allowing them to develop their interest in science and maths, and gain the skills necessary to pursue a career in engineering. That is why we have offered Year 10 work experience placements to schools in London and Kent since the company’s inception in 2000.

As part of a two week summer placement with Crofton, students shadow a senior member of the team to get a taster for what a career in engineering entails. The student has the opportunity to gain an understanding of how an engineering consultancy functions, as well as experiencing daily life in an office environment.

Typical activities a student may undertake during their time with us include working with AUTOCAD technical drawing package and learning other specific calculation packages; and working on basic drawing and mechanical / electrical / structural design calculations in relation to a specific set project.

Students that have undertaken work experience with Crofton, have reported to have an enjoyable time: "It has been an extremely informative, useful and fun couple of weeks at Crofton and I look forward to a future in this industry.” (July 2011)
